From our garden to your plate

We carefully cultivate aromatic herbs and sprouts in an on-site garden, which we then use in the food we prepare at Kanuú Restaurant. With this initiative at our hotel, we support and align ourselves with SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption.

We collect oil for a new purpose

We collect and deliver used kitchen oils for recycling and their proper incorporation into new production processes to ensure appropriate disposal of the product. With this action in our hotel, we support and align ourselves with SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption.

We reduce CO2 emissions by using efficient energy

We are the first hotel to undergo renovation in favor of energy efficiency and the reduction of CO2 emissions through the energy monitoring, saving, and efficiency project with Veolia. With this action in our hotel, we support and align ourselves with SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.

Separation of solid waste

In our production areas, we carry out proper separation of the waste we generate, which is later collected by a charitable organization of recyclers acting as a foundation. With this action, our hotel supports and aligns with the fulfillment of SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption.

Indhyluna Foundation

Our Concierge Lounge is a platform for local talent in the region, where we support enterprises like Indhyluna.

IndhyLuna" has been in Cartagena for over three years. It's comprised of victims of armed conflict and forced displacement from the southern region of Bolívar, along with some individuals with hearing disabilities. They have forged new paths in their lives through their talent and skills. Today, they open their doors and share with the national and international market unique, ecological, and socially impactful creations that are part of the process of reconciliation and integration for an entire country.

Alliance for Training in Cartagena IHG Skills Academy

Through the "Journey To Tomorrow" program, we have formed an alliance with the Centro Colombo Americano Fundación Universitaria Colombo Internacional (UNICOLOMBO) and the Formación Humana para la Enseñanza y el Servicio (FHES) to ensure access to the 'IHG Skills Academy' learning platform, a free resource now made available to students by the hotel chain.

Support for the Social Emergency Plan in Cartagena

InterContinental Cartagena Hotel supports the initiatives of community kitchens in the La Esperanza neighborhood by donating food monthly, thus contributing to providing meals for approximately 1500 people living in extreme poverty.

Prayland Foundation

The Prayland Foundation works for the children of the municipality of Santa Catalina, providing them with physical, spiritual, and emotional assistance. During the month of September 2022, which celebrates Giving for Good at IHG Hotels & Resorts, a special event was held for 130 children in a space for well-being, recreation, and leisure.

Women's Day Celebration for Leaders of Community Kitchens in Cartagena

InterContinental Cartagena Hotel joined the celebration of Women's Day with the Mayor's Office of Cartagena and the Social Emergency Plan by hosting a lunch in the Aguamarina Hall for 25 female leaders of Community Kitchens from different neighborhoods of the city. Through their work, they work together for the good of their community by preparing daily lunches that become a source of hope and sustenance.
